Amanda Cox

Go Figure! [2010]

The visual wonders of elections, disasters, economic crises and sporting events.

SPEAKER: Amanda Cox (US), Graphics Editor, New York Times

HOST: Bjarke Myrthu (DK), CEO, Storyplanet

The New York Times graphics desk is a team of 25 designers, cartographers and developers who report on the news – in a visual way.

Five years ago, the desk was primarily focused on print graphics, but today,
it is also a leader in interactive graphics.

Amanda Cox shares some of the lessons the group has learned along the way, particularly in the field of data visualization. Special emphasis will be placed on how to integrate real interactivity with storytelling, and how to strike a balance between clarity and creating a sense of wonder.
